SYMPOSIUM The Future of Life and the Future of Our Civilization

This will be the second symposium about the future. The first one "The Future of the Universe and the Future of Our Civilization" was held in Roland Eotvos University of Budapest and Debrecen headquarters of Hungarian Academy of Sciences in July of 1999 year.

The goal of these symposia is the understanding of the fact that the preservation of our Civilization is not only the duty of scientists. Besides, it is necessary to bring together modern methods of modelling complex adaptive systems and network theory with traditional forecast and scenario planning in the future investigations in order to increase the efficiency of the future scenario planning in this critical period of change.

Organizers ask to excuse their late transfer of Symposium from Greece in Germany. We had some problems including financial ones. We hope that they will be eliminated to new dates. We are much obliged to the Volkswagen Foundation for the financial support. Even now the phenomenon of Greek Civilization during the VII-II centuries B.C. strikes imagination by its dynamics and achievements. Ancient Greek were the first over all and within a short period of time they performed a grandiose jump from barbarianism to culture. It was the universal Civilization.

We must start our ascent to the tops of reason recalled ancient Hellas to rationally reorganize our planet conciliated freedom and planning.
